Welding Training California
Welding has become an essential craft since 2006. As a matter of fact the US Bureau of Labor has portended a good decade for welding in 2006 to 2016. Skilled welders are in high demand despite the advancement in technology. No machine or artificial intelligence can replace the human skills in welding. Welding is still relying on human supervision regardless of the many attempts made to create automated welding. To enroll welding schools in California you should comply all necessary requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- minimum age of 18 years old
- good eyesight (glasses are allowed)
- program certification
Program certification is very important for a welder. This welding certification can vouch for the welder and his skills and it can also be used for employment purposes. This is provided by the American Welding Society (AWS). While it is true that there are no educational prerequisites for an individual to be acknowledged as a skilled welder, he needs to pass all the assessments rendered, for him to get the certification for a particular program. Here is a sample list of the programs offered by the AWS:
- Steel Welding
- Sheet Metal Welding
- Chemical Refinery Pipeline Welding
- Gas Pipeline Welding
- Construction and Positioning Techniques
After he gets certified for a specified field, he needs to submit a proof of his current work which is related to the field that he is certified lest his certification will be null six months after his certification.
Most welders aim for a higher certification. Other companies prefer certifications given by one company to the other. On account of this, many welders strive hard to be certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). This certification is acknowledged by many companies, if not all.
To be ASME-certified welders, they are asked to design and build a pressure vessel. An Authorized Inspection Agency is tasked to work with the welders in the preparation and to assist them in the review for the assessment. Welders are expected to do accomplish the following tasks prior to the certification:
- Develop a quality manual with specifications
- Purchase materials
- Appoint welding assistants
- Create a component part for demonstrations
- Prepare data reports
